Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability

Committee Charges

Provide advice and guidance on the PIEVC Protocol including:

  1. Identifying and completing required updates,including changes to the climate chapter andseverity scoring criteria.
  2. Developing an implementation plan to require theuse of the protocol by Canadian engineers thatincludes:
    1. Development of a regulatory standard,
    2. Development of wording of a clause forprocurement documents related to the design,building, maintenance and rehabilitation ofinfrastructure,
    3. Marketing the Protocol as recognizedprofessional development for engineers, and
    4. Determining the benefits of embedding theprotocol into the education system.
  3. Promoting the benefits of the Protocol to policymakers within federal, provincial, territorial andmunicipal governments and the use bypractitioners within these bodies.
  4. Establishing a business case for development andimplementation of an online tool version of theProtocol.
  5. Providing advice to the Public Policy Committeeregarding the feasibility of implementing aninfrastructure resilience certification program.
