Engineers Canada exists to provide national support and leadership on behalf of the engineering regulators in Canada to promote and maintain the integrity, honor, and interests of the profession.

Engineers Canada has an opening for a Specialist, Outreach and Engagement. The Specialist, Outreach and Engagement supports the strategic planning, development, management, and implementation of outreach and engagement programs, initiatives, and resources.  

Key Accountabilities

  • Supports the strategic planning, development, management, implementation and growth of national programs, campaigns, conferences, and other initiatives.
  • Supports the advancement of and national collaborations related to our core purpose on fostering recognition of the value and contribution of engineering; and sparking interest in the next generation of engineering professionals.
  • Works collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders through committees, working groups and manages partnerships and alliances with engineering regulators, employers, non-profit associations, agencies, and community groups.
  • Supports the creation of training, mentorship, and educational resources.
  • Upon request, serves as one of Engineers Canada’s representatives at key external partner events locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications and Education


  • Graduate from a recognized University, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program development and management in outreach and engagement, preferably within a professional association or educational institution.
  • Experience evaluating programs and services to grow and continuously improve tactics for strategic value.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and promoting national education and awareness programs and campaigns with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience developing educational resources, training and modules on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and STEM career awareness.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with and influence others.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Proficient in the use of project management principles, practices, and tools with a track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
  • Highly collaborative with well-developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience consulting and working with a wide diversity of cultures within staff, volunteers, clients, students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

Desirable:  Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 Business, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.

Language: Proficiency in English and French is required. 

Working Conditions (Hybrid): There is a requirement to work a minimum of (3) three days/week in the office for the first (3) three months of employment and to occasionally work weekends and evenings. This position may require occasionally travel within Canada.
