“Equity, diversity, and inclusion for engineers and geoscientists,” is a one-hour training webinar for engineering and geoscience professionals of all levels that will introduce them to the topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. It will improve their skills in addressing discrimination, harassment, and racism, and will help them incorporate inclusive practices in their work.
The webinar discusses why and how EDI is relevant to engineering and geoscience, provides an overview of key concepts and terms, illustrates how unconscious bias is a barrier to inclusion, and outlines the behaviours and competencies needed to create an inclusive workplace. The webinar also shares tips that will help engineers and geoscientists take the learnings from the course, and turn them into practice.
This course is free to all engineers and geoscientists across Canada on the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Knowledge Centre. If you are not an Engineers and Geoscientists BC registrant, and you do not already have an existing account, please proceed to creating a new account to create a profile before completing the checkout process. The course is eligible for 1 Continuing Education Hour of Ethical Learning. Upon successful completion, you will receive a certificate of completion.
Engineers Canada extends its thanks to Xpan for producing the webinar, to Geoscientists Canada for their collaboration, and to the members of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Training Task Force for their guidance and advice on the development and content of the webinar.
