Battery energy storage system: An opponent to a battery energy storage system project in Dunrobin, ON, says she is concerned about transparency after learning that an engineer who presented safety data about such systems to the City of Ottawa’s Agricultural and Rural Affairs Committee had his registration cancelled by Engineers and Geoscientists BC in February.
EDI leadership: Concordia’s Chunjiang An has received the Leadership and Advocacy for Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity and Accessibility (EDIA) Award from the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) for his community focused work with Indigenous partners.
Discipline notice: Engineers and Geoscientists BC published a Discipline Notice stating that in an April 17, 2025, Consent Order, Richard Bartel admitted that he demonstrated unprofessional conduct in relation to the engineering services he provided for several sewerage systems. Effective April 30, 2025, Mr. Bartel’s registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC is cancelled.
