Next week Canada is celebrating National Volunteer Week, an opportunity for charities, non-profits, and other community organizations to thank the volunteers that enable their success. This year Engineers Canada is recognizing the efforts of our volunteers to enable our organization to support our mission of advancing Canadian engineering through national collaboration.

The theme for 2023 is “Volunteering Weaves us Together”, drawing attention to how volunteers make up the essential fabric of organizations like Engineers Canada. Indeed, volunteers are a thread that is carried through all of our work. From coast to coast to coast, our volunteers dedicate their time, knowledge, and expertise to make strategic decisions, accredit engineering programs, contribute to our publications and position statements, disseminate information on our profession, champion belonging in engineering, and foster regulatory collaboration across our country.

Volunteering is at the core of what it means to be part of a profession that contributes to the wellbeing of the public, the environment, and the economy. Our volunteers are a great reflection of our profession’s dedication to creating a better place for the benefit of all Canadians, regardless of their gender, race, or socio-economic status.

Watch our social media channels next week as we highlight the many ways volunteers help weave the future of engineering in Canada.
