On February 14-15, 2017, the Engineers Yukon Continuing Professional Development Committee hosted an Engineers Canada training workshop on the application of the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC) Protocol and its use in assessing infrastructure resilience current and future climate.

The workshop included presentations from northern climate and hydrology experts from the Yukon government, as well as information on climate projections from Yukon College. Workshop participants applied the training in assessing climate vulnerabilities for highway infrastructure in Yukon, and a school in southern Manitoba to demonstrate how the PIEVC Protocol can be applied to a range of different infrastructure.

More than 30 people participated in the workshop, including staff from several Yukon government departments, the City of Whitehorse, consultants and local educators.

Engineers Canada thanks the Chair of the Engineers Yukon Continuing Professional Development Committee, Paul Murchison, P.Eng., for his work in organizing and promoting the workshop.
