Starting in January 2025, Engineers Canada will make use of a new online system to apply for and maintain registration on the Engineers Canada Mobility Register.
The new system will have the following benefits:
- It will enable current and aspiring registrants to set up their own user profile. You will be able to log in to keep your contact and licensure information up to date.
- There will be a simpler application process that will not rely on you printing and gathering signatures from eligible validators.
- You will more easily be able to re-sign your registration and/or request that your data is removed from within the system.
- The process of renewing your registration will be greatly simplified.
- A searchable frequently asked questions (FAQ) section will be included to address the most common issues. If your question is not addressed in the FAQ, you will be able to submit your question to a member of our team using a new feature.
- If necessary, you will be able to appeal decisions from within the system.
We are excited to launch this new system; however, to facilitate the transition we will need to put a temporary freeze on accepting new applications. From December 13, 2024 until January 26, 2025, you will be unable to apply for registration. All applications submitted prior to this time will be processed under the existing processes, and all applications submitted on or after January 27, 2025 will be processed using the new system.
We anticipate that these improvements will speed up our processing time and as of January 27, 2025, we will return to reviewing and issuing decisions within 31 days of successful submission.
Common questions
I was planning to apply. Should I wait until the new system is launched?
If your registration is time sensitive and cannot wait until the launch date, we encourage you to apply before December 13, 2024. After this date, you will be unable to apply until the new system launches on January 27, 2025. If your registration is not time sensitive and can wait until the launch of the new system, we would encourage you to wait until the new system is launched.
Will there be any changes in the eligibility requirements?
No – the requirements for registration will remain the same.
I’m already registered – what does this mean for me?
All existing registrants will be set up with their own user profile, and your existing information will be moved into the system. You will receive an email from us in the coming weeks with instructions on how to:
- Sign into the new system for the first time,
- Update your contact details and licensure information, and
- Complete your registration renewal.
If you are already registered, there will be no interruptions to the availability of the public register.
Will this service still be offered free of charge?
Yes. At this time, we are not introducing any fees.
