The day begins with a visit to the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site. Originally constructed in 1749, it has been the location of four fortifications. The site provides visitors with the opportunity to explore the history of the fortress and the soldiers who were stationed there.
We’ll then proceed to the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Canada’s oldest and largest maritime museum, it was first established in 1948 and moved locations several times before finally settling into the permanent space we will be visiting today. Here you will be introduced to the age of steamships, local small craft, the Royal Canadian and Merchant Navies, World War II convoys and The Battle of the Atlantic, the Halifax Explosion of 1917, and Nova Scotia’s role in the aftermath of the Titanic disaster.
*Bus transportation is provided from the hotel to the Citadel and then to the museum. The museum is a 5-minute walk from the hotel and participants can make their own way back at their leisure.

This year’s event begins at 5:30 pm with our President’s Welcome Reception. At 6:30 we’ll serve dinner in the Halifax Ballroom, followed by presentation of the awards. This event is black-tie optional. Guests are invited to dress formally and comfortably to celebrate the achievements of their colleagues. This might mean a cocktail dress, evening gown, dark suit, or tuxedo.
