In preparation for participating virtually, we suggest you do the following:
- Test your internet speed ahead of time. A download speed of at least 4.0 Mbps is required. You can test your speed using a service such as Fast.com.
- A headset with a microphone will ensure the best audio quality and improve the quality of simulataneous interpretation.
- Noise-cancelling should be enabled within the meeting software or the settings of your headset.
- Close all unneeded applications on your computer to ensure maximum quality.
- Turn off notifications from other applications (email, cell phone, etc.)
- Look and sound your best by raising your camera so it is level with your eyes, and position yourself with lighting in front of you. Avoid having windows or light sources behind you. Choose a quiet place, low-traffic location.
If you would like to do a test of your audio, video, or the software, please reach out to Engineers Canada support at boardsupport@engineerscanada.ca.
