With the launch of Tandem to collect data for the Enrolment and Degrees Awarded Survey, we’ve made several changes to survey processes and tools, as well as the content itself. We’ve compiled a list to help users better understand what’s changing and staying the same:
- The tool has changed but the type of data we are collecting remains the same.
- The look and feel of the system are updated, bringing them in line with current usability standards.
- The timing for the 2019 survey cycle has changed slightly to leverage the new system and to provide pre- and post-implementation support.
- The new system eliminates the need for a separate tool to collect data about Canadian Indigenous students. This is now integrated into the survey’s questions.
- Help tools are now integrated directly within Tandem, rather than in a separate document or on database tabs.
- Instructions and definitions have been reviewed and clarified throughout the system.
- Tandem is more flexible to administer, making it easier to add or refine questions and make changes to the information collected.
- Tandem is a significantly more reliable and stable data collection platform.
- While the data collection tool has changed, will continue to generate a Enrolment and Degrees Awarded Report that is consistent with previous reports.
- In the future, Tandem may be able to provide greater flexibility when it comes to changing and adding items like users and new programs. With the previous system, this had to be done on the back-end by Engineers Canada staff.
