Nominations may be submitted by the nominee or their supporters. The only exception is The Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service, which is selected through the engineering regulator hosting the next Engineers Canada Annual Meeting of Members.
Nominations may be submitted in either English or French. Individuals may be nominated in more than one category, and a nominator may nominate candidates in multiple categories.
Nominations are currently closed. The nomination period for the upcoming year will open in the fall of 2023.
Consult each award for specific eligibility. All recipients must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada. For all categories except the Gold Medal Student Award, recipients must be an engineer in good standing licensed by one of Canada’s engineering regulators. Gold Medal Student Award recipients must be enrolled full-time and in good standing with a CEAB-accredited undergraduate engineering program.
The process to review and determine the award recipients is rigorous. Engineers Canada forwards the call for award nominations to the provincial and territorial engineering regulators, Canadian post-secondary institutions, and the engineering community every fall. Nominees are brought forward to the Engineers Canada Awards Committee, a group of engineers and others involved in the profession who, after careful consideration to each nominee, selects recipients. Nominees are typically notified of their status in March.
The Meritorious Service Award for Professional Service is selected through the engineering regulator hosting the next Engineers Canada Annual Meeting of Members.
Engineers Canada reserves the right to cancel, withdraw, or amend any award without prior notice. In reviewing nominees, Engineers Canada reserves the right to not to select a recipient for one or more awards.
