At its meeting on September 8 and 9, 2017, in Edmonton, AB, the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board welcomed three new members:
- Tara Zrymiak: Member from the Manitoba/Saskatchewan region
- Suzanne Kresta: Member-at-large
- Anne-Marie Laroche: Member-at-large
Luigi Benedicenti, FEC, P.Eng., was also newly appointed as Vice-Chair of the Accreditation Board at the meeting.
The newly appointed members came as a result of a call for interest launched in July 2017. That call resulted in the Accreditation Board’s Nominations Committee receiving 20 applications, all of which were very capable and worthy of consideration. The Committee carefully considered each one before making their recommendations to the Engineers Canada Board in August.
Attendees of the Accreditation Board meeting in Edmonton also participated in a workshop on September 8 to discuss different aspects of training for stakeholders in the accreditation process. This was followed on September 9 by the Accreditation Board meeting, where members discussed accreditation decisions based on reports submitted by programs, and substantial equivalency decisions based on visits to programs outside of Canada.
