Engineers Canada’s Bridging Government and Engineers Committee (BGE) has been very busy lately. Just last week its members met with four different Members of Parliament in their ridings across the country. These were introductory meetings and a chance to discuss Engineers Canada’s pre-budget submission.

  • Chair of the committee, Darryl Ford, FEC, P.Eng. met with the Honourable Ginette Pettitpas Taylor, Deputy Whip and Liberal MP for  Moncton?—?Riverview?—?Dieppe, New Brunswick.
  • Cameron McNaughton, PhD, P.Eng., met with Sheri Benson, New Democratic Party labour critic and MP for Saskatoon West, Saskatchewan.
  • Andrew Pape-Salmon, P.Eng., MRM, met with Conservative critic for infrastructure and communities and MP for South Surrey?—?White Rock, British Colombia.
  • Dan Dankewhich, P.Eng. and Tom Gouldsborough, FEC, P.Eng., met with Dan Vandal, MP for Saint Boniface?—?Saint Vital, Manitoba.

The BGE Committee is tasked with meeting with MPs from coast to coast to coast to talk about items of interest and concern to the engineering profession and to inform the government of the wealth of expertise the profession has to offer them. The committee has already met with more than a dozen MPs and is showing no sign of slowing down.
