Next month, Canada will welcome the world to the ISO Environmental Management plenary session at the Ismaili Centre Toronto. The event, hosted by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), will gather delegates from more than 80 countries, including national standards bodies and leading technical experts, to negotiate and advance international environmental standards.

Amongst the key items under discussion is the emerging ISO Net Zero standard, which provides guidance to organizations navigating their net zero transitions. The plenary session will also include two Canadian policy roundtables addressing climate resilience of health systems and water infrastructure. The Digital Horizons component of the session will explore how digital twin technologies, big data, and artificial intelligence can accelerate sustainability and resilience across sectors.

For Canada, this plenary is both a technical milestone and a diplomatic opportunity. As international standards continue to evolve, Canada’s engineering community can take pride in advancing solutions that will guide global efforts toward sustainability, resilience, and climate ambition. Visit Plenary 2025 New — ISO/TC 207 Environmental Management to learn more about the ISO Environmental Management international plenary session.
