Changes to engineering regulation in New Zealand. New legislation announced in Alberta for engineering and geoscience professions. A new requirement for bilingual documents in federal procurement. These were the most-read stories from the Daily Media Report in late April and early May.  

New Zealand: New Zealand's Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has announced changes to engineering regulation, making registration and licensing mandatory.   

Alberta legislation: The Government of Alberta has announced the Professional Governance Act, which, once passed, will consolidate and streamline nine acts and 28 regulations into a single umbrella act, with a minimal number of supporting regulations, that will govern all included professional regulatory organizations.  

Bilingual documents: Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is set to require submissions of engineering and geoscience work products in both official languages—French and English—each being of equal quality and published at the same time.
