Jacques Lamarre: L’Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)’s Discipline Council has fined the former head of SNC-Lavalin, Jacques Lamarre, $75,000 and revoked his engineering licence. Lamarre, who had resigned his licence in August last year, responded “with profound disappointment,” but confirmed that he will not appeal the decision of the Discipline Council.

New regulations in Ontario: New labour mobility and free-trade regulations came into force in Ontario on January 1. The new labour mobility regulations will see certified professionals from other provinces, including engineering and geoscientists, allowed to begin working in Ontario within 10 business days once their credentials are confirmed by the relevant regulator.
