APEGA councillor resignation and new appointment. Victoria Wishart, P.Eng., has stepped down as an APEGA councillor as of June 12. As mandated, the APEGA Council selected her replacement, Devarsh Sood, P.Eng., to fill the vacancy until the 2024 election.

New independent advocacy body initiated for engineering and geoscience in British Columbia. Engineers and Geoscientists BC announced it is initiating the creation of an independent advocacy body. The decision came following significant review and evaluation of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s programs and activities as it worked to integrate the requirements of the Professional Governance Act into its operations, including adopting a more focused mandate. Several programs and activities focused on community-building and registrant benefits programs will be transiting to the new body. The advocacy body will be established through a steering committee that will select the group’s inaugural Board of Directors; the steering committee will be in place by August 2023.
