Ontario engineers have new occupational health and safety responsibilities. Following the R. v. Greater Sudbury case, Ontario consulting engineers have new occupational health and safety responsibilities. Consulting engineers, even solo practitioners, can now be considered employers and can be charged by Ministry of Labour inspectors for failure to maintain Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) compliance. Ontario engineers need to be aware of their new duty of care. 

Ontario Society of Professional Engineers celebrates P.Eng. Day. The Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE) celebrated its seventh annual P.Eng. Day. They described their licensed P.Eng.s as Professional, Efficient, Noble, and Groundbreaking,  highlighting all the good work they do for Ontarians. 

Concordia Engineering and Computer Science students vote to strike. On March 4, the Engineering and Computer Science Association (ECA) of Concordia University held a special general meeting (SGM), where around 100 students attended and voted to strike with a 92 per cent majority. The vote is in response to the Coalition Avenir Québec’s tuition increases for out-of-province and international students. They will not be participating in online lectures, asynchronous lectures, holding class in alternative locations, or submitting assignments during the strike period.
