Engineers Canada, in partnership with APEGS, delivered a one-day workshop on November 5, 2015, that provided participants with information about, and practice with, the Public Infrastructure Engineering Vulnerability Committee (PIEVC) Protocol.

The 33 workshop participants, who included several engineering students from the University of Saskatchewan, received presentations on climate information for public infrastructure decision-making, the legal implications of not accounting for climate change vulnerabilities, and information on the theory and the details of the Protocol.

The workshop presented examples where the PIEVC Protocol has previously been applied, including the University of Saskatchewan engineering building and the City of Welland municipal stormwater system. Participants worked in small groups on exercises to execute steps in the Protocol.

This training was part of APEGS’s Fall 2015 Professional Development Days and Volunteer Appreciation Event held in Saskatoon and each participant was given a Certificate of Participation to verify their continuing professional development.
