Ottawa, ON, December 17, 2014 – Engineers Canada is proud to announce the launch of its Career Action Program to help prospective engineers overcome obstacles and take their first steps toward rewarding careers in engineering.
The Program addresses the first stage in every engineer's career: the intention phase – in which a student chooses whether to pursue a career in engineering, identifies future specialty areas, and plans a strategy to successfully apply for one of the engineering schools across Canada.
“By joining the program, prospective engineers have access to a growing set of research tools, personalized counseling services, and networking resources,” said Engineers Canada CEO Kim Allen, FEC, P.Eng. “We help them evaluate their skills and make decisions that will lead to better professional choices and greater job satisfaction.”
The Program will be expanded to help engineers at every stage of their careers. Future offerings of the Career Action Program will be targeted to help students in engineering schools, new engineering graduates, and mid-career engineers.
“The initial Program is for high school and early university students who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering but need more clarity or don’t really know too much about it,” said Mr. Allen. “We will launch the Program’s next phase in 2015 to provide career guidance and counseling to engineering students seeking direction on which area of engineering they should pursue. The final phase, which we also plan to launch in 2015, will be geared towards guiding engineers through career transition decisions.”
