For the second year in a row, Engineers Canada has once again been recognized as one of the National Capital Region’s Top Employers.
“Everyone at Engineers Canada has always taken great pride in making this a wonderful place to work, and I’m delighted that our team has been recognized in this way,” said Engineers Canada Interim CEO Stephanie Price, P.Eng., CAE. “To receive outside recognition from Canada’s Top 100 Employers confirms what our staff have known for years—that Engineers Canada is an excellent place to work.”
This special designation recognizes the employers in the Ottawa-Gatineau metropolitan area that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work, evaluated on eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; training and skills development; and community involvement.
Engineers Canada was selected as one of the 2018 Top Employers for a number of reasons, including:
- its support for employees who are new mothers, fathers or adoptive parents with maternity and parental leave top-up payments -- the organization also offers the option to extend their leave into an unpaid leave of absence
- new employees receive three weeks of paid vacation to start, moving to four weeks after only three years on the job -- additionally, the organization provides paid time off during the winter holidays and up to five paid personal days
- in addition to supporting multiple charitable initiatives each year, Engineers Canada encourages employees to give back to the community by donating $1,000 per year to a charity chosen by the social committee and also allowing participation in company-endorsed charity events during work hours.
Engineers Canada joins a wide range of public, private and not-for-profit organizations named to the Top 100 list this year, including Adobe Systems Canada Inc., the Bank of Canada, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority, Carleton University, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Egg Farmers of Canada, Hydro Ottawa, Universities Canada, and multiple federal government departments and agencies.
First published in 2006, the National Capital Region's Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers.
