As Canadians head to the polls this October, Engineers Canada is encouraging citizens to vote for resilient infrastructure and fostering a strong engineering sector to build a better country.

Across Canada, over 20 professional engineers are running in this fall’s federal election. These candidates span several party affiliations. Engineers Canada is encouraging these candidates – and all others – to recognize the need for resilient infrastructure, address a projected skills gap in the engineering sector, and understand the role of professional engineering in Canada.

To achieve this, Engineers Canada has launched election2015.engineerscanada.ca. The site provides information for candidates, engineers and the general voting population to learn more about these issues and how they can be addressed by the federal government. The site also includes our campaign document, Canada Needs Engineers: Election 2015.

“Engineers have the knowledge and expertise to help parliamentarians and policy makers make decisions on the complex issues facing Canadians,” said Kim Allen, FEC, P.Eng. Chief Executive Officer of Engineers Canada. “Whether running as a candidate or not, the voice of engineers is vital if we are going to build a better Canada.”

Everyone is invited to get involved by visiting election2015.engineerscanada.ca and joining the discussion on social media via #VotePEng and @EngineersCanada.

Engineers Canada is the national organization of the 12 engineering regulators that license the country's 280,000 members of the profession. Together, we work to advance the profession in the public interest.
