A new report from Engineers Canada, entitled Canadian Engineers for Tomorrow: Trends in Engineering Enrolment and Degrees Awarded 2011-2015, has found that undergraduate enrolment in engineering programs continues to increase, and that Canadian programs continue to be a popular choice for international students.
The report, released on November 9, 2016, also finds that the number of engineering degrees—whether they be undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral—awarded also continues to climb.
The Enrolment and Degrees Awarded Report is an annual Engineers Canada publication that synthesizes enrolment and graduation trends at the undergraduate and graduate levels over time. The report examines the participation of women and international students as well, and in 2016, collected information regarding Indigenous student enrolment for the first time. This year’s report was prepared by recent graduate and Engineers Canada intern, Stefanie Wlotzki.
