The Engineering Change Lab is pleased to welcome Suncor and the Suncor Foundation as its newest Lab Champions.
They join Engineers Canada, Engineers Without Borders, Concordia and Lassonde, meaning that the Lab has met its minimum target of five Champions.
Like the other champions, Suncor has committed to contributing a mixture of financial and in-kind contributions for 2016, which has allowed the Lab to meet its minimum resourcing threshold for the year.
“This is a big step for the Lab and I’m sure I speak for everyone in thanking Suncor and our other Lab Champions for their contributions and leadership,” said Mark Abbott, Engineering Change Lab Animator.
Lab Champions share responsibility for ensuring the sustainability of the Lab by providing leadership and helping marshal the resources required for the Lab to function effectively.
The Engineering Change Lab was co-convened by Engineers Canada and Engineers Without Borders Canada and held its first workshop in January 2015. The Lab is a platform for collaboration to allow individuals and organizations from across the engineering profession to take action to address the system challenges that have been holding back the profession’s full potential.
Organizations and individuals who participate in the Change Lab are exercising a powerful and visible role in helping to shape the future of the engineering profession.
The core Lab Team consists of 40 senior leaders (Chief Executive Officers, Vice Presidents, Deans and Directors) representing 35 organizations from across the engineering profession, including companies, universities, government agencies, associations and non-profits.
The group convenes three times a year, with their next workshop being held in conjunction with the XChange Conference in Hamilton, Ont., from January 15-17, 2016.
