International Women's Day 2024
How can business leaders create more equitable and inclusive workplaces? Though progress is happening, bias and barriers persist. Statistics Canada reports a decade-over-decade decrease in the gender wage gap between Canadian-born men and women. Yet, for Indigenous women and immigrant women, pay gaps are consistently wider in full-time and part-time work across sectors. Women and gender-diverse workers are entering STEM fields at higher rates than ever, but retention is low. At the same time, the proliferation of AI in hiring poses risks of perpetuating gender bias.
In the lead up to International Women’s Day, The Globe and Mail will host a webcast focused on the causes of gender-based inequality in the workplace, along with strategies and solutions to close the gaps for a more productive and successful economy.
