A BC engineering firm claims former CEO deleted files, stole trade secrets. Charges withdrawn against an engineer in Welland condo collapse. Manitoba town sues province, engineering firm over aquifer. These were the most-read stories in the Daily Media Report in late February and early March.
Former CEO: A BC engineering firm has filed a notice of civil claim with the BC Supreme Court, alleging that its founder took 187,000 confidential documents during an investigation by an independent consultant in July 2025 after concerns were raised about his conduct.
Charges withdrawn: Charges against a professional engineer regarding the partial collapse of condos in Welland, ON, three years ago have been withdrawn by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. The Ministry of Labour prosecutor said there was reasonable doubt as to the engineer’s guilt and it is no longer in the public interest to continue with the prosecution.
Aquifer: As reported by the Winnipeg Free Press, the Town of Virden, MB, is suing the provincial government and an engineering consulting firm for recommending that the town switch to a new aquifer, which ran out of drinking water four years later.
