Engineering regulators sign National Statement of Collaboration. On May 23, all engineering regulators in Canada signed a National Statement of Collaboration with Engineers Canada. The Statement reflects the 12 Canadian regulators’ renewed commitment to work together to address national and international barriers to mobility for engineers and engineering entities, to further advance public safety, and to increase regulatory efficiency.
Maps warn of disaster near North Vancouver town site. On a patch of North Shore waterfront, spotlighted as one of the most hazard-prone pieces of land in Metro Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver plans to build more than 1,000 residential units; it’s also where the chemical company Chemtrade Logistics Inc. is pushing to extend the life of a potentially risky chlorine gas plant. These plans are in direct contrast to the analysis of the danger-prone area as somewhere to avoid for critical infrastructure, or high-density residential or commercial zoning.
Dr. Bradley appointed the dean of engineering at the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Michael Bradley (PhD) has been appointed Dean of the University of Saskatchewan (USask) College of Engineering. Bradley will begin his five-year term on July 1. An active researcher, Bradley focuses on plasma physics, precision electromagnetic measurement and semiconductor materials and device development. Bradley has a track record of building strong and meaningful collaborative relationships that bridge diverse perspectives in the college and the university.
