As part of strategic priority 1.1, “Investigate and validate the purpose and scope of accreditation”, from Engineers Canada’s 2022-2024 strategic plan, Engineers Canada seeks consulting support to research and write a report to understand both the current landscape and the future possibilities in engineering education.

Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, trends in engineering education were indicating an evolution beyond the traditional delivery method of lectures, laboratories, and tutorials towards more collaborative, project-based learning, flipped classrooms and other non-traditional methods. Measures to adapt to the pandemic necessitated a rapid national shift toward non-traditional educational delivery methods. As the strategic priority seeks to investigate the accreditation system, there is a need to understand both the current landscape and the future possibilities in undergraduate engineering education.

The work will include:

  • Planning and participating in a scoping workshop
  • Producing workshop proceedings
  • Producing the Engineering Education Report
  • Presenting the key findings from the Education Report, and
  • Working with the Education Task Force.

All work on the Project must be completed by March 31, 2022.
