Engineers Canada Operates a National Database called the National Membership Database (the “NMDB”). The NMDB is a tool that allows the engineering regulators (the “regulators”) to upload information about their own license holders, making it available to all other regulators to facilitate the verification of inter-association applicants. Although not all regulators upload information, most do use it to check the status of inter-association applicants.
The NMDB is currently hosted OnPrem at Engineers Canada’s offices. The hosting servers are aging and will need to be replaced by 2023. This project aims at moving OnPrem infrastructure to the Microsoft Azure platform, modernize the look-and-feel, and add enhancements requested by the regulators.
Engineers Canada has selected Microsoft Azure as the cloud platform in which to build its solution.
There is an active RFP out seeking a developer to build the database. Engineers Canada will be deciding on the successful vendor in December 2020.
The Analyst will work with internal staff and regulator experts (technical and business) to support and engage them in the initiation, planning and delivery of this initiative, to develop and manage both technical and non-technical requirements and to ensure that a data model is developed that can deliver on business requirements.
The overall budget allocation to deliver the services in respect of this opportunity is $85, 000.
