Join Engineers Canada at the 2024 30 by 30 Conference: Turning Knowledge into Action for Gender Equity in Engineering. Registration is now open at the conference website.

The engineering profession has committed to increasing the number of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30 per cent by 2030. However, we are at risk of not achieving our goal. 2030 is only six years away, and female-identifying newly licensed engineers only account for less than 20 per cent of the engineering profession in Canada. Now is the time to unite the engineering community to refocus our efforts and create meaningful change to advance gender equity in engineering.

The 2024 30 by 30 Conference offers both virtual and in-person programming. The Conference will kick off on April 24 with a virtual event open to everyone—from equity, diversity, and inclusion champions, to engineers, engineering employers, engineering educators, engineering students, and engineering regulators. This three-hour virtual discussion and workshop explores the progress engineering workplaces have made in supporting the different people and positionalities in the engineering profession over the last five years. Additionally, we’ll discuss the actions that need to be taken to support engineering workplaces, with the goal of examining peoples’ and organizations’ roles in enacting social justice.

A one-day, in-person Summit then takes place on May 22 in Winnipeg, MB, that brings together leaders from engineering workplaces, engineering educators, the engineering regulators, and others to discuss what we’ve learned over the past five years. Then together we’ll explore how our work and approaches to achieving gender equity within engineering have evolved, the current state, and what strategies and opportunities we’ll need to adopt if we hope to meet our 2030 target as well as retain newly licensed engineers in the profession, and champion a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming engineering profession.

Registration is now open for the virtual event and the in-person Summit. Find more information about each event and registration details on the conference website
